On the 30th of January 2011, CNN, BBC, Press TV news cables report that a train ferrying people has collided with a freight train killing at least 10 and wounding dozens of others near the city of Magdeburg in eastern Germany. A local passenger train and a goods train collided head-on in the state of Saxony-Anhalt near the city of Magdeburg late on Saturday. The cause of the crash is still unclear. Some 18 injured passengers are in critical condition. The wreckage caught fire after the collision. The passenger train, the HarzElbeExpress, was travelling between Magdeburg and Halberstadt. Several carriages were derailed after the accident near the village of Hordorf at about 2230 (2130 GMT). "Rescue operations are still ongoing. The death toll may well rise further," said regional police spokesman Frank Kuessner.

This comes 27 days after the man of God, Prophet Maxillar Mumo was shown of a train that kept on coming to him and was in danger of a trap to be revealed as the head-on collision. On 27th January 2011, Daily Nation, KTN, NTV all Kenyan television networks and a leading paper reported that a Fly540 aircraft crash- landed in a maize and cassava plantation after it failed to take off from Wilson Airport.Witnesses said the plane, 5X-FFD, ran beyond the runway, shot through the airport fence and nosedived into the field on Thursday.“It started well, but when it neared the end of the runway, I heard it reduce its engine roar. It then got into the field,” Mr Albanus Kioko said. An official from the airline, who sought anonymity, said that the plane developed mechanical problems on take-off during a flight test. He said the four people on board were unhurt but had been taken to hospital for check-up.When the Daily Nation team arrived at the scene, officials from the Accident Investigation Department (Ministry of Transport) were on site checking the status of the aircraft. Airport police boss James Mugera said investigations were under way. The plane must have continued with the ground run because its front wheels had collapsed. Its nose got opened probably due to impact when it hit the ground. Attempts to reach the airline’s operations manager, Mr Dickson Ooko, proved futile as calls to his phone went unanswered. The airport is situated near residential buildings. If an aircraft fails to take off, it is likely to plunge into people’s homes.

On the 24th of January 2011, CNN, BBC, Press TV news cables report that People in Berlin have held protests in front of Schonefeld airport against a government plan to build a new and bigger airport, dubbed the Berlin Brandenburg International. Some protesters want a change of air lanes while others demand the project to be immediately stopped and relocated elsewhere, a Press TV correspondent reported. Ever since German Air Traffic Control presented the flight routes of the new airport, it has been sharply opposed to by citizens, who believe they will be exposed to unprecedented levels of air traffic noise. The demonstration has been the largest so far with protests likely to continue. Berlin Brandenburg International will serve as the capital's sole airport as the government plans to remove both Tegel and Schonefeld airports. Since Berlin's current airports are already overstrained and cannot be expanded, the new location suggests possibilities for economic growth, jobs and tourists. After several delays, the government plans to open the EUR 3 billion airport in June 2012. Under pressure from protesters, the German Air Traffic Control has announced it will evaluate alternative routes.

On 24th January 2011, CNN, BBC, Press TV news cables report that at least 35 people have been killed in an explosion at Moscow's Domodedovo International Airport -- the busiest in the Russian capital. The blast, which occurred at one of the airport's international arrivals halls, has also left 130 people injured. People were evacuated from the airport after reports of large amounts of smoke near a baggage carousel. "According to preliminary information, the explosive device was set off by a…bomber in the international departures hall," Interfax news agency quoted the unnamed security source as saying. Moscow police have stepped up security across the city after the explosion. At least 35 people have been killed in the blast, airport spokeswoman Yelena Galanova said on national television. "All the patrols are looking for suspicious people and objects in public places," an unnamed law enforcement official told Interfax. "They are paying particular attention to transport." Following the incident, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev ordered a special security measures to be taken across the country's transport hubs.

Medvedev has postponed his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, planned for this week, as a result of the blast, Kremlin spokeswoman Natalya Timakova said. Spokespeople for the city's two other passenger airports said security measures were heightened after the blast with all luggage being searched and staff examining footage from security cameras in the terminals. The airport is 40 km (25 miles) south-east of the city center, and is popular with foreign workers and tourists flying into the city.
